How an adoption unfolds with us
Six steps, announced in advance. The detail of each — prices, deposit, guarantees, paperwork — unfolds just below.
- First conversation. We get to know each other: your home, your expectations, your way of life. The Ragdoll is an indoor cat that loves company.
- Commitment-and-knowledge certificate. You sign it before anything else. It opens a seven-day cooling-off period required by French law, during which nothing is asked of you. Detailed just below.
- Reservation. Once a litter is announced, your chosen kitten is reserved with a 30 % deposit. You then follow its growth in photos.
- Departure between 12 and 16 weeks, depending on the kitten’s development. The balance is settled at the latest on departure day, when we sign the sales contract together.
- The paperwork is on us. Once the contract is signed and the kitten has left, we handle the change of ownership with I-CAD, the French national register. You have nothing to do.
- A bond that lasts. We remain available to support you throughout your companion’s life.

The first step: the commitment-and-knowledge certificate
Since 1 October 2022, every buyer in France must sign a commitment-and-knowledge certificate (French law of 30 November 2021). It is a legal obligation, not a formality of ours — and the sale depends on it. With us as everywhere else, everything therefore begins with it.
📜What you should know
- A seven-day cooling-off period runs from your signature. The adoption cannot take place before this period ends — even if everyone is in a hurry.
- You must add a handwritten statement committing you to meet the animal’s needs.
- It can only be issued by someone holding the French ACACED certificate or an equivalent qualification — a veterinarian, a veterinary assistant, a professional diploma in the field. A seller who cannot provide it is not operating legally.
- It has no expiry date and remains valid for any future acquisition of a cat. Keep it safe.

All our kittens leave between their 12th and 16th week — vaccinated (feline leukaemia FeLV included), dewormed, microchipped, neutered if they leave as pets, and registered with the LOOF. Any booster made necessary by the departure date is done, and it is included: as long as the kitten is with us, its protocol remains our responsibility.

Price to be set
It will be fixed as our first litters approach, in the course of 2027, once our real costs are known. Neutered from two months of age (early neutering).
Kittens intended for breeding (entire, unrestricted) will only be offered from 2028. Prices, conditions and the reasons behind this choice are explained on our Breeding page.

Every breeding cat is screened with MyCatDNA Advanced ↗ — a genetic panel of 45+ diseases and traits, genetic diversity and an ISAG 2020 DNA profile. Bijou’s and Brontë’s panels will be ordered in autumn 2026, and their results published on their profiles as soon as they arrive.

You leave with a healthy, weaned, well-fed kitten, together with its LOOF pedigree, its health record and its certificate of good health.
✦Delivery
Holding the French TAV certificate (live-animal transport), I can deliver your kitten myself, on quotation. And if I judge the distance too great — or depending on circumstances — I can call on a professional pet courier to bring it to you in complete serenity.
We prefer to announce our framework in advance rather than discover it together at payment time. Here is exactly how a reservation unfolds, and what it commits.
❄Our procedure
- The commitment-and-knowledge certificate is signed first. It opens the seven-day cooling-off period required by law. We ask for nothing before it is signed.
- A deposit of 30 % of the kitten’s price is then requested to secure the reservation.
- A reservation contract is given to you following this payment. It states the kitten concerned, the price, the balance due and the planned departure date.
- The balance is settled when the kitten leaves, between 12 and 16 weeks.
⚠The deposit is not refunded if you change your mind
We say it plainly because it is the number-one source of conflict between breeders and adopters: if you withdraw, the sum paid is lost. A deposit firmly binds both parties — the sale is concluded. Think before paying, not after.
We do, however, provide for cases where the deposit is refunded in full, upon supporting evidence:
- the kitten dies or develops one of the legally redhibitory diseases before its departure;
- we are unable to hand the kitten over to you — a health issue, or a material or logistical impediment on our side;
- you find yourself in an equivalent inability to collect or welcome it, for a serious, documented reason.
Outside these situations, the deposit is kept. It is not harshness on our part: a reserved kitten is a kitten withdrawn from sale for weeks, sometimes refused to other families.

On departure day, your kitten does not leave empty-pawed. Here is what travels with it.
- The sales contract, signed in two copies that very day.
- Its health record, up to date with vaccinations and deworming.
- A veterinary certificate of good health less than five days old — issued just before departure, not weeks in advance.
- The I-CAD change of ownership, which we handle ourselves after the sale.
- Its LOOF pedigree, or the application certificate if printing is still under way.
- A bag of its usual kibble, enough for a gradual food transition if you change brands.
- A few toys it already knows — familiar smells help a great deal in the first days.
❄About food
We feed our cats Farmina N&D, and it is also the kibble we rank first in our comparison: two named animal sources at the top of the list, zero maize, and the only additive list that is genuinely complete against the FEDIAF guide.
Its retail price often puts people off, and we understand. But professional rates exist, distinctly lower, by going through a brand sales contact rather than retail. On our side, it brings the kilo down to a level that bears no comparison with the shop price. If you are interested, write to us: we will point you to the person we know, who advises honestly and never pushes an order. We have no commercial interest in this introduction.

A point the LOOF underlines and that we gladly repeat: a contract clause that creates a significant imbalance to the buyer’s detriment is unfair, and therefore deemed unwritten (French Consumer Code, art. L 212-1). The rest of the contract continues to apply.

Reserving happens in three stages: signing the commitment-and-knowledge certificate, which opens the legal seven-day cooling-off period; paying a deposit of 30% of the kitten’s price; and receiving a reservation contract stating the kitten, the price, the balance and the departure date. The balance is paid on departure, between 12 and 16 weeks. The deposit is not refundable if you change your mind. It is returned in full, on production of evidence, if the kitten dies or develops a redhibitory disease before departure, or if either party is seriously and demonstrably unable to hand over or to take in the kitten.
Yes. Since 1 October 2022, anyone acquiring a pet must sign a commitment-and-knowledge certificate, including a handwritten statement undertaking to meet the animal’s needs. The acquisition may only take place after a seven-day cooling-off period following that signature. The certificate can only be issued by someone holding the ACACED certificate or an equivalent qualification. It has no expiry date and remains valid for any future acquisition of a cat.
All our kittens leave between the 12th and the 16th week, depending on how each one develops, with vaccinations and deworming done, microchipped and registered with the LOOF. Where necessary, the second vaccine booster is given before departure so as not to break the vaccination schedule.
Our prices are not set yet. The price of pet kittens, neutered or spayed from two months, will be fixed as our first litters approach, expected during 2027. Kittens intended for breeding, unneutered and free of restrictions, will only be offered from 2028, in our second year of litters.
The kitten leaves weaned, microchipped, vaccinated (panleukopenia, cat flu and feline leukaemia), dewormed, neutered if it leaves as a pet, with its LOOF pedigree, its health record and its certificate of good health. Lifetime follow-up and advice are included free of charge.
